This is an oil study of the incomparable Cesar Romero in his role as Batman nemesis, The Joker, from the 1966 "Batman" television series. For those who don't know, the reason this version of The Joker has a mustache under all that greasepaint is because Cesar Romero had a reputation for playing Latin Lover characters in his film career. The stache was a key element of that persona. He refused to shave it off for his appearances on the show. They agreed to paint over it. Now, that bit of poorly camouflaged facial hair has become one of the more interesting bits of TV trivia from the era!
